When to use this form

This form is to be used to apply to become a registered biosecurity entity (RBE). This form applies to designated animals, including bees.
You may also use this form if you are already registered and wish to register an additional location. You must specify your RBE number.

You may already be registered

Designated animal owners
If you were allocated a property identification code (PIC) before 1 July 2016, you will have been registered as a biosecurity entity.

Bee keepers
If you registered as a bee keeper under the Apiaries Act 1982 between March 2016 and June 2016, your registration under the Apiaries Act will continue until March 2017, at which time you must register under the new Biosecurity Act 2014.

Do I need to register?

Anyone who keeps more than a certain number of 'designated animals' must register with Biosecurity Queensland to become an RBE. An RBE can be: an individual. several individuals working in a partnership or organisation such as a company, trust, registered body or government organisation.
You must register if you own or keep: 1 or more cows, sheep, goats, pigs, bison, buffalo, deer or animals from the Camelidae family (e.g. alpacas, llamas) or the Equidae family (e.g. horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, zebras) 100 or more designated birds - that is, birds that are raised for human consumption (poultry) or the production of eggs for human consumption (e.g. chickens), or that have been released into free flight since they started being kept in captivity (e.g. racing pigeons) 1 or more beehives.

Term of registration

Your registration will be valid for a period of (3) three years. At the end of the three year registration period you will be required to complete a renewal application. Failure to do so may result in your property identification codes (PIC) and/or hive identification numbers (HIN) being cancelled.

Fees

A fee is payable if you are a commercial primary producer (i.e. you claim primary producer status on your tax return). A fee is NOT payable if you keep designated animals only for non-commercial purposes. Fees in this form are applicable until 30 June 2019. Fees are GST exempt.

In addition, some information may be given to other government agencies to assist in the management of diseases, pests, residues or the operation of livestock quality assurance systems such as the National Livestock Identification System or the Livestock Production Assurance National Vendor Declaration system. Your information will not be disclosed to any other parties unless authorised or required by law.
